Will I receive class credit for participating in the summer program?
No, the summer program does not provide class credit as the internship is only a part-time 20 hour per week commitment. However, the program is fully funded, and students receive a stipend for their participation in the program.
What is the schedule for the internship portion of the program?
Monday-9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Tuesday-1:00 PM-5:00 PM
Wednesday-1:00 PM-5:00 PM
Thursday-1:00 PM-5:00 PM
Friday-No internship, site visits
Who is encouraged to apply for the summer program?
We prioritize applications from rising Juniors and Seniors at Baylor. However, we will still give consideration to rising Sophomores that are exceptional candidates.
What does the interview process for the program look like?
We will conduct first round interviews with members of BIW team via Zoom. Candidates that are selected to advance will be asked to complete a 30 minute in-person interview with Dr. Hibbs. Once those interviews are completed, our team will reach out with offers to all students that have been selected to participate in the summer fellowship.
How do the seminars play into the scheduling for the program and what kind of speakers are included?
Seminars are conducted on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday mornings at the BIW offices. The speakers are all incredibly influential working professionals that focus on topics ranging from religion and human rights, poverty alleviation, law enforcement, and much more.
What is the breakdown of the summer program?
The summer program consists of the part-time internship commitment, morning devotionals focused on spiritual reflection, seminars focused on the intersection of religion and public life, along with vocation dinners, site visits to various organizations around D.C., and opportunities for networking with working professionals.
