Political Desaturation: How to Thrive Before, During, and After the 2024 Election - October 15th, 2024
Baylor in Washington hosted a virtual panel on the problem of “hyper-politicization.” Panelists explained this problem from social, psychological, and theological perspectives while offering concrete strategies for “desaturation.” Panelists included political philosopher Robert Talisse (Vanderbilt University), psychiatrist, author, and speaker Curt Thompson, MD, and theology-trained leadership coach, Elizabeth Oldfield.
The Politics of Forgiveness - February 8th, 2023
Forgiveness is a Christian virtue. Is it also a political one? To what extent does forgiveness depend on repentance, and upon justice? Some say democracies cannot survive without practicing forgiveness; others that this is too much to expect. Should we resign ourselves to mere toleration, or can forgiveness be approximated in concrete political ways? These are questions at the forefront of American public life, and how we answer them has meaningful implications for our civic leaders.

On April 1st, Baylor in Washington and The Trinity forum hosted this important discussion with four of America's most prominent religious commentators about how believers and religious communities can thrive during this extraordinary season and so be prepared to contribute to America's common good. Poverty in America: Is Progress Possible in our Polarized Times? - December 11th, 2019
On December 11th, Baylor in Washington, along with the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty, the University of Dallas, and AEI’s Initiative on Faith & Public Life, invited esteemed panelists to talk about this important issue. Robert Doar (President, American Enterprise Institute), Thomas Hibbs (President of the University of Dallas), Heather Reynolds (Managing Director of the Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunity at Notre Dame), and Jeremy Everett (Executive Director of the Baylor Collaborative on Hunger and Poverty) all discussed the way forward in finding a solution to poverty in America.
